About Dr. Jessica Gerson

I draw on a range of therapeutic modalities (cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, mind-body techniques, and others), in order to be as effective as possible. I encourage patients to face and process challenges while discovering internal and external resources that facilitate coping. I treat anxiety, depression, interpersonal difficulties, pain, gastrointestinal conditions including inflammatory bowel disease and irritable bowel syndrome, medical trauma, and chronic illness in general. I work with children and adolescents, adults, and couples and families. I treat people on both a short-term or long-term basis.

I have a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and over two decades of experience. I have had postdoctoral training in family and couples therapy, mindfulness meditation, and gut-directed hypnotherapy. In addition to having a private practice, I have also worked in a number of multidisciplinary collaborative care programs. I am currently an Assistant Clinical Professor and the Senior Psychologist in the NYU Langone Health Division of Gastroenterology, where I conduct clinical work, teach, and do research.
